Binley Hotel, 88 Willenhall Lane

In April 1926 a new licence was confirmed for William Farley, for the yet-to-be-built Binley Hotel. It had certainly been built by January 1928 when Home Cinema Shows were advertised there. This pub took its name from the surrounding area and was close to Binley Colliery, which closed in the 1960s. In 1982 it was described as a very popular estate pub and was redecorated in 1981 with some structural alterations. It used diaphragm pumps to dispense its beer, which was most unusual for Coventry. Due to trouble, the Police had the pub closed in September 1997. The premises were being considered for a community centre by the following year, but that hope came to an end when it was destroyed by fire in May 1999 by local youths - a 12 and a 14 year old. The property was finally demolished in mid-June 1999.
